Hello All.
So many of you have been checking-in and letting us know how my mom and the family are on your thoughts and in your prayers. Thank you so much for your love and support. It means more to Mom and the rest of us than words can express. She continues to be lifted by your cards as well. I'll say it again, thank you so much.
Mom is doing well. She struggles with confusion, but she is up and walking with a walker (even a cane at times!), and she is able to talk and put her thoughts into words. To say this is a HUGE improvement from weeks ago would be an understatement! These improvements are big, folks!
Dad recently started back to work, so Mom is adjusting to having him away each day. I think she is handling this with such grace as it has been a bigger than big change for her. She has gone from having Dad with her all the time over the past couple months (which is her desire and her comfort) to having us daughters and hired in-home-care with her each and every day. And on extra special days, this new schedule offers a deluxe, all-inclusive package which features the company of her youngest grandchildren. As you can imagine, Mom is getting her fill of Nickelodeon, the Disney Channel, and hilariously lovely conversations and remarks from these little ones who admire her so. On top of all these great features, the deluxe package also includes the vanishing of most sweets from the pantry and juice boxes from the fridge! Dad is doing well at keeping up with supply and demand; he is a good Pap!
Since the last post, Mom paid a visit to both her neurologist and brain surgeon. Both doctors brought to our attention that what is being seen in the MRI, the MRI which the oncologist and her team reported that the tumor has grown substantially, may actually be swelling. There was a good bit of swelling as a result of the changes that were detected. Dad contends that the doctors are reading the MRI differently because Mom is healed of the brain tumor, that what they are seeing is not normal so their MRI interpretation has the potential to be viewed as conflicting. All the doctors agree that stopping the chemo was a good idea and the medicine that Mom is taking to alleviate the symptoms from the swelling was a good move. We appreciate all the doctors so very much. The level of knowledge and care they offer has been heartfelt and exceptional. So for now, Mom is continuing to go to the Lancaster Cancer Institute for these infusions every two weeks and she is scheduled for another MRI this Friday.
We continue to see God's love, grace, and blessings though this time. We praise Him for his sustaining grace to each and every one of us!
Thank you again for your love, support and prayers.
Many blessings to you all!
Jenna
